HIGHLAND, IN — On Monday evening, Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service of Indiana, Inc. and its affiliate, Life Support Training Institute (LSTI), hosted a graduation ceremony to celebrate 30 new emergency medical technician (EMT) graduates from LSTI’s Highland training facility.

Each graduate has accepted a full-time position with Superior Ambulance, ensuring their training will immediately benefit communities across the region.

“Superior Ambulance is passionate about investing in local talent and helping people build careers in the communities they call home,” said Kim Godden, Vice President of Superior Ambulance. “This training creates new opportunities and builds the dedicated, skilled emergency workforce Indiana needs. These graduates are stepping into careers that will make a real difference in their own neighborhoods.”

The ceremony was a reminder of the vital role these graduates will play as they bring their skills and dedication to Indiana’s EMS workforce. LSTI’s workforce development initiative, trains, equips, and hires local residents for critical EMS roles, helping strengthen emergency care across the region.

Illinois State Representative Debbie Meyers-Martin (D-Olympia Fields) and Indiana State Representative Julie Olthoff (R-Crown Point) attended the graduation ceremony, congratulated the newly certified EMTs, and commended Superior Ambulance and LSTI for their leadership in workforce development.

“Strengthening Indiana’s EMS workforce is essential,” said State Rep. Meyers-Martin. “Superior Ambulance’s program helps ensure that when someone in our community calls for help, a highly trained professional is ready to respond. At the same time, it’s creating meaningful career opportunities for our neighbors – a smart investment in both public safety and our state’s future.”

“Regional growth depends on a skilled workforce and strong public safety infrastructure,” said State Rep. Olthoff. “By expanding EMS training and creating direct pathways into high-demand careers, this program is helping communities across our region build local talent, bolster household incomes, and ensure reliable emergency care.”

Through its “Earn to Learn” program developed as part of its mission to grow homegrown talent and build a strong, community-based EMS workforce, Superior Ambulance guarantees employment to all graduates upon successful EMT certification. Once hired, full-time employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement to advance their education, an incentive designed to reduce barriers to entry and support long-term career growth in EMS.
