ELMHURST, IL — On Friday afternoon, Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service, Inc. and its affiliate, Life Support Training Institute (LSTI), hosted a graduation ceremony to celebrate 17 new emergency medical technician (EMT) graduates at Superior Ambulance’s headquarters in Elmhurst.

Each graduate has accepted a full-time position with Superior Ambulance, ensuring their training will immediately benefit communities across the region.

“We are dedicated to building strong career pipelines in emergency medical services (EMS) by recruiting, training, and promoting talent right here in our community,” said Kim Godden, Vice President of Superior Ambulance. “Programs like ours expand opportunities for local residents while building the skilled emergency workforce our state relies on. These graduates are beginning careers that will serve Illinois for years to come.”

The ceremony was a reminder of the vital role these graduates will play as they bring their skills and dedication to the workforce. LSTI’s workforce development initiative, trains, equips, and hires local residents for critical EMS roles, helping strengthen emergency care across the region.

Illinois State Representative Diane Blair-Sherlock (D-46) and Elmhurst Mayor Scott Levin, who attended the graduation ceremony, praised Superior Ambulance’s workforce development program for strengthening the state’s emergency response workforce and creating new career opportunities for residents.

“Building a strong EMS workforce requires clear training pathways and real opportunities for people who want to serve in these critical roles. This program helps expand access to education and certification while supporting the next generation of EMS workers,” said Rep. Blair-Sherlock. “Programs like this strengthen emergency medical services and create meaningful careers in our communities.”

“Investing in our workforce means investing in the future of our city,” said Mayor Levin. “Superior Ambulance’s program is giving community members the skills, training, and opportunities they need to succeed in today’s economy while helping grow the pipeline of trained EMS workers. When we connect people to good-paying careers and create pathways to advancement, we strengthen families, businesses, and our entire community.”

Through its “Earn to Learn” program developed as part of its mission to grow homegrown talent and build a strong, community-based EMS workforce, Superior Ambulance guarantees employment to all graduates upon successful EMT certification. Once hired, full-time employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement to advance their education, an incentive designed to reduce barriers to entry and support long-term career growth in EMS.
